American mountain ash trees reach a maximum height of 30 feet. The fall foliage color of American mountain ash trees is yellow.  White ash trees reach 70' tall on average. They prefer full sun and rich soil.  Green ash trees are more adaptable, cold-tolerant and have golden fall colors.  White ash is known for its purplish autumn color.  Established ash trees should be pruned every three to four years to maintain good form and structure.  

 

 


Cimmaron Ash

The Cimmaron Ash tree, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, 'Cimmzam', is a fast growing ash tree that has beautiful glossy purple-colored leaves for showy foliage color. This deciduous trees is seedless with strong, upright branches that are resistant to storm and snow damage. The Cimmaron can grow 3 ft. or more per year in rich loose soil. The glossy dark-green foliage turns brick-red to orange-red in the fall. It is a beautiful shade tree for homeowners and landscapers.


Green Ash

The Green Ash tree, Fraxinus Pennsylvanica, is a fast growing shade tree with rich green foliage and an upswept branching habit. It is very adaptable to many soil and moisture conditions. This medium sized tree has beautiful yellow foliage in the fall. Green Ash trees withstands drought, excessive moisture, and wind. The crown is densely rounded or irregular. The leaf stems are velvety. The lance shaped leaflets are a lustrous medium to dark green. Fall color is yellow.


Patmore Ash

The Patmore Ash tree, Fraxinus pennsylvanica 'Patmore', better known as the Patmore Ash, is a lovely, fast-growing tree with 5-9 shiny green leaflets which stay on the tree well into the autumn. Patmore ash tree is a cultivar of the green ash, so it is very hardy and it tolerates drought well. The attractive shiny green leaves change to a yellow fall color. Extremely hardy. It is seedless. Widely used as a shade tree and a central lawn tree.


Washington Hawthorne

The Washington Hawthorne tree, Crataegus Phaenopyrum, is a broadly oval to rounded, dense, thorny tree. The foliage is a reddish purple when unfolding and gradually changing to lustrous dark green at maturity. Fall color varies from orange to scarlet to purplish. Flowers are white and diameter. Plant 4-6 apart in the row for a hedge. It has low water requirements and shows a high tolerance to salt and alkali soils. The tree flowers in early spring with a profusion of white blossoms.


White Ash

The White Ash tree, Fraxinus Americana, is a handsome native tree. It develops an open and rather round topped crown in its old age. This is the largest of the ash trees in North America. Mature trunks can reach almost 6 feet in diameter. This deciduous tree has firm gray bark with diamond-shaped furrows and interlacing ridges. The wood is hard, strong, elastic, and very useful. Several kinds of birds eat the fruit. The foliage is dark green in the summer and turns to yellow or maroon in the fall. It is tall, stately, and long lived.


Autumn Purple Ash

The "Autumn Purple" White Ash, Fraxinus americana, 'Autumn Purple', is a seedless male tree and is a cultivar of the species which is native to moist areas. This fast growing White Ash tree grows 2/3 feet per year. It is almost pyramidal with a round top when young, but gradually slows down and develops an oval shape. Autumn Purple Ash trees prefer a sunny location. The Autumn Puple Ash tree makes a great tall shade tree.
